A Lou Review Fight Forever
AEW Fight Forever (Nintendo Switch Review) by Lou
AEW Fight Forever is fascinating. I can't call it a straight up wrestling game. I don't know how or where to classify it. Sure you wrestle some matches and make friends and enemies.
In between, your wrestler flies around the country on a monopoly board, hits the weight room and goes to diners where the programmers thought it was important that you learn about the local cuisine for some reason.

You also make your wrestler work out, take selfies, go sightseeing (where the wrestler gives you a history lesson), work press conferences and appear on talk shows.

Another key part of the game is the mini games which are run by the Young Bucks.
The Bucks are assholes. I don't know if this part is supposed to pass as a BTE episode as I have never watched one. Were the Bucks assholes to everyone on BTE or did the programmers forsee their current EVP roles?
I have no clue.
I also have no pics of the mini games but they essentially turn it into Mario Party. Yes, Mario Party...
In one mini game, Penta leads a dance contest...
The game does have moments that mirror real life. Tony Khan gets his tweets out there...

Also, Fro Dog shows up and freaks out when CM Punk debuts on Rampage. And, can't forget, each match needs to get it's own star ratings.

I have no clue where this game's timeline is supposed to fall. Fight Forever reminds us of the dark days of the pandemic with throwbacks to Daily's Place. Cody is in the game despite leaving for WWE over two years ago. William Regal teaches you how to play the game despite staying in AEW for a literal cup of coffee. But, there's also newer AEW stars in the game. The timeline makes no sense.
In an interesting twist, I was also able to get Sting and Riho to start dating...

Of course, Riho eventually left Sting for... Scorpio Sky for some reason... which obviously kicked off a feud with him.
The match graphics look pretty good but any scene or segment outside of that - they're pretty bad on Switch (see the above pic of Aubrey).
Again, I can't call this a straight up wrestling game as there is so much to it that has nothing to do with wrestling.
And despite of all the words written above, I can't say this is a bad game. A bad game is simply unplayable...
Fight Forever is playable. The actual wrestling parts play well and look good.
Everything else had my eyes wide open and my chin on the ground in complete confusion.
This is hands down the weirdest "wrestling game" that I've ever played. It's truly fascinating that this game exists.
